Hi, I am Alp Ulgen (he/him), the founder of Art-Led Psychotherapy. I provide a safe, confidential, and compassionate space for an expressive form of talking therapy that utilises the arts to enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
My Specialities
I am an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and have an up-to-date ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ (DBS) check.
I specialise in adult mental health and wellbeing, including emotional regulation, depression, anxiety, complex PTSD, sexual abuse, developmental trauma, sexual identity, personality disorders, and bipolar disorder. Additionally, I have a keen interest in working with anger and medically unexplained chronic pain.
I provide individual and group art therapy for adults from diverse backgrounds, such as race, culture, neurodiversity, sexuality, gender and disability.
My Approach
I tailor my approach for each individual, given our complex experiences and diverse backgrounds.
Art led psychotherapy engages the senses, supports the connection between body and mind, fosters inner balance, and provides new perspectives. You do not need to be skilled in art to benefit, as art is used as a form of communication.
My Qualifications
I hold a PG Certificate in Therapeutic Arts, a PG Certificate in Child, Adolescent, and Family Mental Well-being: Multidisciplinary Practice, a Certificate in Initiatic Art Therapy, a Certificate of Healing Trauma with Guided Drawing®, a Certificate of Clay Field Therapy®, and an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. I remain committed to professional growth and regularly complete CPDs and training courses.
